XPERTISE

At XTEAM, lacrosse is our bread and butter. It's what we know, what we love and what we do best. Although there are many bells + whistles that accompany the XTEAM membership, top quality lacrosse instruction is where it all begins.

:: 4 BASICS
There are 4 things that every player can control: FITNESS, STICKWORK, ATTITUDE + COMMUNICATION. These are the core ingredients that aptly prepare any laxer to play her best and NONE of them require a strong coach or team. They all require practice + commitment.

At XTEAM, these basics are the absolute minimum members must contribute as it indicates their own commitment to ... themselves. And, the extent to which they exhibit proficiency in each area determines the course our coaches take to help them improve.

:: XTEAM PLAYING SYSTEM
The XTEAM "system" is the backbone of how we level the playing field ON the field. Members learn core principles that will help them to quickly assimilate to our team, establish good on-field habits and provide a platform from which they can deepen their skills, understanding of big concepts and level of experience.

This system also functions to introduce XTEAMers to the core of an evolving game as it is designed to promote the kind of player that is adjustable while also providing she has loads of room to grow. Our players LEARN the broad pieces of the game by understanding the building blocks of a strong foundation. That complete picture will contribute to their success, versatility and ability to make an impact at the next level.

1 :: STICK SKILLS, relative to the game
High capacity stick handling - protect, deliver, feed + catch under pressure in a game, check on receipt of ball.

2 :: COLLABORATIVE BALL-HELP-SLIDE, defense
Biggest focus of XTEAM; a college-level + college-style defense with options to increase intensity through double-teaming, adjacent pressure and blitzing double-teams.
3 :: OFFENSIVE MOVEMENT, freelance concepts
Clearing space, challenging to cage, give +go plays, picks + rolls, draw + dumps, sets, motions + scoring plays are ingredients we use to mix + match.
4 :: TRANSITION, field vision
Offensively looking to lanes, stay wide, anticipating where ball WILL be, giving the fast break texture, using 5 transition passing options; Defensively - the famous XTEAM RIDE!

:: SIDELINE COACHING
XTEAM is not a program where we wait for anything, especially the chance to make our members better! Typically, we have a "LEAD COACH" for every team who is responsible for managing strategy, units and substitution. Then, we pile the sidelines with 1-3 INDIVIDUAL COACHES who are there just to give real time feedback to players during the game.

:: GAME PLAYING TIME + SUBSTITUTIONS
Players regulate playing time based on our system of substitution. Our expectation is that you come to play, so if you are exhausting yourself to peak your performance and improve your game, you will need people to relieve you so that you can regenerate. Our system does not allow players to remain in the game continuously as the physical demands are too high over time. Ideally, our roster is 18 field players, which will allow for a 6-6-6 substitution rotation. We adjust accordingly and never exceed 22 field players.
NOTE: We do not measure or predetermine playing time for our teams. You are placed on a team based on your ability/skill/potential/athleticism/etc. Once there, everyone is expect to contribute in their role established by our system + requirements of your position as the game unfolds.

:: PERSONALITY + POSITION
As a guideline, we work to identify the best possible positioning for our members on the field based on "PERSONALITY PLACEMENT," a method developed to identify the best place girls should be based on their personality traits. This is not something that absolutely defines where members will play, but with open conversation + a measurement of skills sets + personality traits that best fit for a certain position, it works to help determine where each member will contribute most. It's a set up for success from both an individual and team perspective.

:: WRITTEN PLAYER EVALUATIONS
The most popular element - and most critical to each member's improvement - is the PLAYER EVALUATION. After every event, XTEAM members receive a written evaluation based on the 4 BASICS as well as our XTEAM SYSTEM. Through evaluations, players receive feedback from their coaches in 3 specific areas: THINGS YOU DID WELL, THINGS TO WORK ON + SUGGESTIONS FOR CHANGE. Evaluations mark the performance at each event and are sent to parents as well as coaches so that everyone can be in the loop. Evaluations work most when players continue to review them, using them to prepare and practice before the next event

:: BETTER, FASTER
Since we only get to see our members for a short amount of time each event, our curriculum is carefully designed to get them better, faster. We go to great lengths to ensure that we have come up with a million ways to put the power in the hands of our members to create their own success. It's their work. It's our passion.
